Information
This exhibition is co-curated by students from River Valley High School over the course of one year, under the supervision of curators from the Memorial Hall. Specifically, the “six men who saved Wan Qing Yuan” referred to Lee Kong Chian, Tan Ean Kiam, Lee Chin Tian, Chew Hean Swee, Lee Choon Seng and Yeo Kiat Tiow, who had jointly acquired Wan Qing Yuan in 1937 and it was eventually converted into a Memorial Hall in 1940. This exhibition thus serves as a tribute to the immense contributions of these six Chinese pioneers in areas such as education, religion, economy and social reforms, not forgetting their philanthropic spirits and astute decision to preserve the historical site.
