Assistant Manager (Research and Curatorial), Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH) – Temp (1-Year Contract)

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on Singapore and Southeast Asia Chinese community history
• Identify, engage and consult internal and external stakeholders and domain experts on relevant topics
• Work closely with the curatorial team to conceptualise and develop storyline for exhibitions
• Assist curators with acquisition, writing and editing content, as well as in-house research and outsourced research projects
• Work with the other teams for public programming, education and outreach initiatives
• All other duties as assigned by General Manager and Curators of SYSNMH

Requirements

• BA undergrad/grad (with Honours)/MA in any of the following fields: History, Chinese Studies, Southeast Asian Studies
• At least 2 to 3 years of strong research background, output (papers and conference presentations) and research experience in Singapore and Southeast Asia Chinese history
• Good track record and experience in engaging with relevant domain experts of the field
• Strong ability to harness research repositories commonly used in historical research and use of the materials
• Good time and project management skills
• Able to work independently and be a good team player
• Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
• Bilingual with proficiency in Mandarin preferred to liaise with the Mandarin-speaking public
• Possess project management experience
