Experience the thrill of the Dragon Boat Sprint at the Kallang Water Sports Centre from 22 – 24 May, organised by The Kallang and the Singapore Dragon Boat Association. Set against the dazzling city skyline, this electrifying day and night races invites you to witness paddlers of all levels go head-to-head as they compete for first place on the waterfront.

Feel the energy of the roaring crowds, pounding drums, and fast-paced action as teams push their limits in one of the most exciting events of the season.

DIY Felt Dragon Boat Craft Making

Originating over 2,500 years ago, dragon boat racing has its roots in ancient Chinese agricultural societies where it was closely tied to seasonal rituals celebrating water, harvest, and the dragon. Today, this rich cultural heritage takes form in a modern competitive team sport. At the craft station, unleash your creativity by making your own dragon boat felt craft, and enjoy the experience as you take in the lively waterfront atmosphere and watch dragon boaters race by.

Step into a series of interactive game stations that combine fun activities with the traditions of the Duan Wu Festival. Take part in simple challenges that introduce the traditions and customs behind the festival. Each station offers a hands-on way to learn about its heritage while enjoying light, engaging gameplay suitable for all ages.

Wan Qing Yuan: A Journey Through History and Heritage – Travelling Exhibition

Did you know that Wan Qing Yuan was originally known as the Bin Chan House? Or did you know that the villa once served as the residence of prominent local figures and has witnessed significant historical events? This exhibition offers an opportunity to explore Wan Qing Yuan's role in history and its place within the broader context of the Balestier precinct's heritage. Visitors can also walk away with a multi-layered stamp print postcard of Wan Qing Yuan that they can create themselves!

Jointly organised by the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, the 2026 Duan Wu Carnival celebrates the festival through a series of activities such as live performances, games, food booths and children drawing contest.

The Duan Wu Festival traditionally marks a period in the fifth lunar month when hot and humid weather made people more prone to illness and the spread of epidemics, while snakes and insects were also believed to be more active, increasing risks of bites and stings. To protect themselves, people adopted various health practices, including carrying mugwort sachets as a natural insect repellent. Come join us in this herbal pouch making activity as we bring a modern wellness spin to this tradition, where you’ll create sachets using natural ingredients known for their calming effects, insect-repelling properties, and more.

This vibrant travelling exhibition explores the myths, legends, and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival, offering insights into the origins and evolution of dragon boat racing in Singapore, and explore the diverse varieties of rice dumplings enjoyed during the festival in this travelling exhibition.
