Speaker: Mr. Lim Jim Koon, former editor of Lianhe Zaobao

This talk will be delivered in Mandarin.

The predecessors of Lianhe Zaobao – Nanyang Siang Pau and Sin Chew Jit Poh – were inextricably linked with China. The newspapers had a strong China slant, and hired many famous editors and journalists from China. The proprietors also had a close relationship with Chinese leaders. This close relationship between local Chinese papers and China was interrupted in 1949, but was later resumed during the Chinese Economic Reform beginning from 1978. Today, the Lianhe Zaobao website is one of the top Chinese news websites in the world and has significant influence in both Singapore and China. Learn more about the history and development of Lianhe Zaobao from industry veteran and former editor of Lianhe Zaobao, Mr. Lim Jim Koon.
