Looking back at the development of fashion in the past century, one would notice there were three apparent taboos of fashion design – “No seasonal differentiation”, “No age differentiation”, and “No gender differentiation”. Through the analytical lens of Text and Image Studies and against the backdrop of the current Fourth Industrial Revolution, this talk explores the impact of various fashion markets such as “fast fashion”, “slow fashion”, and “street fashion”, its influence on consumers’ fashion style and the use of clothes as a medium for self-expression.
