The “conserva-tour” provides an opportunity for participants to explore behind-the-scene stories of the garments on display on a tour led by Tan Yan Ni, curator-in-charge of the special exhibition and Geraldine Sim, a textile conservator. In this tour, you will be guided through the exhibits, learn about their historical significance, the material used, the decorative elements, the challenge of conservation and more. You will also be given tips on how to care for heirloom garments and textiles that you can apply at home!

Joined HCC’s Conservation Services (Textiles) Department in 2011. She graduated with a Bachelor of Art (Egyptian Archaeology) from the University of Liverpool and holds a Master of Philosophy in Textile Conservation from the Centre of Textile Conservation and Technical Art History at the University of Glasgow. She has a keen interest in conservation ethics and collection storage strategies.

She is the assistant curator of Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall and the curator in charge of “Modern Women of the Republic” special exhibition. She holds two MAs in Nanyang Technological University for Chinese Studies and Museum Studies and Curatorial Practice. His academic interests and areas include local Chinese social and cultural history, oral narratives, historical memory etc.
