Originating from southern China, the Dumpling Festival (also known as Dragon Boat Festival or Duan Wu Jie) has its early origins in the worship of the river dragon. It then became associated with the commemoration of Qu Yuan, a third century poet and patriotic statesman during China’s Warring States period (475-221 BC).

Visit the Memorial Hall’s festive travelling exhibition to learn more about the origins, legends, and customs of this popular Chinese festival!

Exhibition will be available at Library@Chinatown from 1 - 30 June 2020.
